Dawson Pierce

PhD student in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics

Hello, I am Dawson Pierce.

I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in aerospace engineering and mechanics. I received both my master's and bachelor's degrees at The University of Alabama in 2024, and decided to stick around to finish up my PhD specializing in the guidance, navigation, and control field. Most of my research opportunities have revolved around multi-target tracking using Random Finite Sets, and it's made me well-versed in Bayesian estimation along with generic dynamical systems theory.

I expect to graduate with my PhD in August 2026, allowing for me to finish all of my education by the age of 24. In doing so, I hope to gain more opportunities in my career by ensuring that I am able to adapt to any problem that is thrown at me and hone in on my critical thinking or problem solving capabilities.

Through my additional studies, I've acquired a vast number of hands on skills and continuously learned how to effectively contribute to a team and support others through my work in the Laboratory for Autonomy, GNC, and Estimation Research (LAGER) and at UA Recreation.

Be sure to check out some of my posts for more details on relevant work experiences.

Roll Tide,

Dawson
